Is there an area of your life where you are confused about what direction to go in? Many times, I have been blinded by confusion, unsure of what step to take.
In Colossians 3:15, the scriptures say: Let your heart be always guided by the peace of the Anointed One, who called you to peace as part of his one body.
As followers of Jesus Christ, we are to be led by the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit leads by PEACE. If there is an area of your life where you are confused, then according to 1 Corinthians 14; God is not the author of confusion, but of peace. This means God is not behind the confusion, and you need to take a step back from whatever is causing the confusion and return to PEACE.
The word peace in the Scriptures means:
PEACE (Greek- Eirene: Strong’s G1515)- a state of tranquility. harmony, exempt from rage and havoc.
Take a look at what you are fighting for right now. Are you in a state of tranquility and harmony? Or is this decision/situation causing rage and/or havoc?
Currently, we have been attempting to sell our home for several months. We have dropped the price to rock bottom, offered money towards closing costs and done everything we know how to do. However, it has still not sold. Which means the home we are currently building on a contingency, may not work out. It has been very stressful, to the point where my stomach has been in pain and I have struggled with anger about it. But the truth is, according to Psalm 127:1, unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.
When I get to this point of frustration, I have to stop and ask myself, Is the Lord really in this? Has God truly given my family the grace and supernatural peace to go through this battle?
Have I been praying and asking the Lord to bless MY plans, instead of getting before Him and getting HIS plan? I know from experience, that when something is God’s plan you have peace and doors of opportunity open.
So after a discussion with my realtor and husband, we are making decisions to get back to a place of peace. A place where we can truly be led by the Holy Spirit and not emotional upheaval because selling our home is not going as planned!
Years ago, I learned to pray the following scripture to help me get back to peace. Read the scripture out loud first, then pray the following prayer inserting the situations you need peace and wisdom in:
Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. Philippians 4:5-8
