Are random thoughts bombarding your mind?

One time when I was teaching a home bible study, random thoughts kept bombarding my mind. People asked me to pray for them, and when I did, the thoughts got worse! I was trying to concentrate on what the person was asking me to pray for, and strong thoughts like “Aren’t you hungry?” would come to mind. It was so distracting!

The next day I spent time in prayer asking the Lord what to do so I would not be distracted by random thoughts in the future. I sensed this response in my spirit, “Before you do a work, commit it to the Lord and ask Him to establish your thoughts.” This scripture from Proverbs 16:3 came to mind, “Commit your works to the LORD, And your thoughts will be established.” (NKJV)

Before I teach, work on a project, work on my finances, before having a serious conversation with someone, I pray:

Heavenly Father, According to Proverbs 16:3, I commit the work of (whatever it is I am working on) to you and to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. I ask you to establish my thoughts in this area. In Jesus’ name. Amen

When I pray the above prayer, my mind immediately clears up, no more random thoughts, and whatever I am working on becomes easier!
